Lernen Sie die Nomaden in Changthang kennen

Unsere Stars: Die Changtangziegen

The nomadic families herd their flocks through a region so vast, silent, and unreal that it seems almost timeless. They live in tents, wear heavy, simple clothes, cook with yak dung, and trade their products for rice, tea, petrol, and money. In this simplicity lies an infinite richness: Everything happens in harmony with nature.

When Anton learned about this life, a desire grew within him to make it visible and tangible – not through touristy images, but through something one can touch. Thus, CHANGTANGI was born: A bridge from Changtang to the world.

From Thread to Stole – Craftsmanship with Centuries of Tradition.

The Origine of our Cashmere

Cashmere from Changtangi Goats

The valleys of Changtang are approx. 4000m high and the highest peaks have an altitude of over 6500m. In this terrain, the particularly fine Pashmina of the Changtangi goats is produced.

One goat provides approx. 500 - 1000g of cashmere / pashmina / changtangi wool per year.

The price per kilo is approx. 5000 INR.

Our nomadic family's herd consists of about 250 goats and 100 sheep. This way, we obtain a good 250 kg of cashmere annually, from which we can produce approx. 1600 scarves. Through exchange with other nomadic families from the region, we can have up to 10,000 scarves produced annually from Changtangi wool.
