Where it comes from

Changthang — a place that makes soft gold.

Above 4,500 metres the winters are long and the nights bitter. To survive them, the Changthangi goat grows a very fine undercoat. That undercoat is pashmina: under 15 microns, one of the finest natural fibres there is. It is combed out by hand in May.
