Meet our nomad friends in Changthang

Our Heros

Our friends in Changthang are from a nomadic family who is home in the vast, silent landscape that feel almost timeless, moving with their herd across terrain that seems untouched by the modern world. They live in tents, wear sturdy simple clothing, cook with yak dung, and trade their goods for rice, tea, fuel, and money. Within this simplicity lies infinite richness: everything exists in harmony with nature.

When Anton discovered this way of life, a vision took shape—to make it visible and tangible, not through tourist photographs, but through something you can touch and hold. This is how CHANGTANGI was born: a bridge from Changtang to the world.

From Thread to Shawl – Craftsmanship with Centuries of Tradition.

Changtangi cashmere is combed from our goats in May, then carefully sorted and transported to the lowlands of India. There, master craftspeople card, spin, and weave it into our signature scarves and shawls – timeless pieces defined by their softness and natural elegance.

We've visited our weaving facilities in northern India to personally verify that every scarf meets our standards for quality, craftsmanship, and ethical production.

The Origine of our Cashmere

Cashmere from Changtangi Goats

Changtangi's valleys lie at approximately 4,000 meters elevation, with peaks exceeding 6,500 meters. In this demanding terrain, the Changtangi goats produce exceptionally fine pashmina cashmere.

Each goat yields roughly 500–1,000 grams of cashmere annually.

Raw cashmere costs approximately 5,000 INR per kilogram.

Our nomadic family's herd comprises around 250 goats and 100 sheep, yielding approximately 250 kilograms of cashmere yearly. From this, we produce roughly 1,600 scarves. Through partnerships with other nomadic families in the region, we could manufacture up to 10,000 Changtangi cashmere scarves annually.

The region is special and so is the Changthangi pashmina cashmere. It has one of the finest quality in the world and our goal is to make the nomads of the region independend of international cashmere competition.
